Questions for the Left in the Wake of Yesterday's Bombing

The usual gang of leftists and Bush-haters have come out of the woodwork to blame the London bombings on Bush and Blair and our nation's involvement in Iraq. Very few note that the bombers themselves mentioned Afghanistan as well. Why not?

In any event, the premise is that we, the US and Britain, are responsible for the bombings because we are fighting in Iraq and/or Afghanistan and if we would only withdraw our troops, they would leave us alone.

I have a question for them; Why were we attacked on September 11, 2001? We were not in Afghanistan. We were not in Iraq. Same thing for the bombing of the USS Cole or the first World Trade Center bombing.  The premise of the "blame the US/UK" crowd ignores this truth entirely. They claim that by leaving Iraq to whither, we would be safer. Again, if not being in Iraq, or Afghanistan, would make us safer, why were we attacked on September 11 and earlier?

A lesson to be taken is that we know we were a target regardless and all the Daily Kos lovers, Huffington-ites and DU-er's cannot refute that as much as they would like.

Besides, if we withdrew from Iraq, we would leave in place the makings for a mass-murder of our former allies. Additionally, we would end up with a deadly mix of Baathists and Islamic extremists running the country. If Afghanistan was a great staging ground for Al-Qaeda and other Islamic Jihadists, imagine what a great home base Iraq would be. And if we listened to yesterday's purported killers, we should also leave Afghanistan. That would give our enemies two staging grounds for their Jihad. Still think we ought to cut and run?

One last note. The reason many people consider the Left soft on national security is that they always blame the victim rather than the attacker. As long as you cannot recognize the bombers in London as the ones to blame for the deaths of the innocent and rather try to place the blame on Bush, Blair or anyone else with whom you disagree, you cease to be someone whose views we should consider when it comes to protecting our nation. In short, you are a fool.
