Update: Thanks to all of you who have visited my humble slice of the blogosphere. Feel free to take a look around and stay awhile. And a special thanks to those that are sponsoring the Open Trackback Party. I appreciate it!
Despite the best efforts of the various terrorist groups and their staunch supporters in the media and "anti-war" movements, the Iraqi's took yet another step forward in their progress towards becoming a Constitutional Democracy by voting in large numbers. Various news reports have said that turnout was down while pointing out that the percentage of voters may have actually risen over the January elections. How they reconcile those two things, I have no clue. But one thing is certain, the Iraqi people, regardless of how the vote turns out, have scored yet another major victory in their own war on terror. Congratulations.
By the way, I would like to thank the below blogs that are graciously allowing me to post a TrackBack on their sites as part of their Open TrackBack Party this weekend. Thank you for the trackback and link. I have done the same.
Much to the chagrin of some in the United States, insurgence and terrorists in Iraq, the vote for a new Constitution went smoothly and with little violence in Iraq today. Many enemies of the United States at home and abroad were hoping either most Iraqi voters would stay home in protest, or that things would get really ugly. Either way it would have looked bad for President Bush, but the Iraqi people didn't cooperate with the enemies of democracy. That is what freedom does. It allows people to make their own decisions based on their own conscience. Days like this prove that the Iraqi people really do want freedom and maybe, just maybe democracy will take hold in that war torn country.
