For General Release: In response to the City of Tacoma billing the military for law enforcement during anti-war protests a Tacoma native, the blogger known as The Opinionator, has renounced his ties to the city. The Opinionator was quoted as saying that while he left the area as a young child, he was never in love with Tacoma's smell known, famously as the "Tacoma Aroma". The Opinionator was given no response when he asked why the antiwar protesters were not charged a permit fee to cover the additional costs the City incurred due to the protest. According to some sources he was overheard calling Tacoma Mayor Bill Baarsma a "douchebag". When asked about this, The Opinionator had no comment.

Sir;
I see we were both in Alaska's Airborne.
I can't seem to find how else to contact you through this blog..So I'm gonna' try this way.
I am looking for information on the background trimming (jump oval) & flash that was worn by the 17th Infantry (Charlie Airborne)
and any other information you might have regarding any of the other Alaska Airborne unit's.
Thank you

The flash worn on the beret was infantry blue with a white border. The wing oval had a dark blue border surrounded by a light blue merrowing and a white interior behind the wings. On the dark blue border were eight stars, three above, three below and one on each side. I have not seen another example in twenty years since the Charlie Airborne companies of 1-17 and 2-17 were stood down to create my unit 1-501 in 1989. Lastly, a blue airborne tab with white lettering was worn over the 6th ID SSI. The same oval and flash was worn by C/4-23 up north.

I ammend my previous post. The wing ovals were surrounded by white with two, not three stars on the top of ring. The border of the beret flash was also fairly wide.
