Fox News Channel is passing along an Al-Jazeera report that an American soldier held captive, Spc. Keith M. Maupin, 20, of Batavia, Ohio, has been killed by his terrorist captors in Iraq. As Neal Boortz has pointed out, we would be happy if our POW's were treated the same way we treat Iraqi's at Abu Ghraib.
Some on the Left will use this as another reason to cut and run. The media will likely cover this for a day and then let it be forgotten as there is more reporting to be done on the "atrocities" at Abu Ghraib. After all, that hurts President Bush's chances of re-election. Fortunately, most Americans are made of sterner stuff and this is likely to harden the backbones of a good many Americans. Too bad it took the death of an American soldier to remind us of the true face of our enemies.
The thoughts and prayers of my family and I go out to the family, friends and comrades of Spc. Maupin.
