A Photo Summary of the Iraq Elections

Rachel, the Blue-Eyed Infidel, points us to two of my favorite pictures from yesterday's elections in Iraq as well as a wonderfully succinct summary of liberal thought, or lack thereof on the elections.

These pictures make me proud of our country and most of all; the men and women of our military.

Blogger is Awarded the Silver Star

Among the Blogs I have added to the Blogroll is Armor Geddon, written by an army tank platoon leader in Iraq. He is 1LT Neil Prakash of Alpha Co. 2-63 Armor, call sign Avenger Red Six. His blog is a well written account of leading troops in battle. Modestly, he does not mention that he was recently awarded the Silver Star, the nation's third highest award, for Gallantry in action. Read the account here and be sure to visit his blog.  Not often a blogger is a hero!

By the way, for those of you that are curious, Alpha Co. 2-63 Armor is military-speak  for A Company, 2nd Battalion, 63rd Armor Regiment. The unit is part of the 1st Infantry Division.

A Democracy is Born!

Roughly 8 million Iraqi's braved violence and endured long lines to cast their first free ballots. You have my respect and congratulations!

P.S. Do those voters in Ohio that were "disenfranchised" because they had to wait in long lines and decided to go home without voting look like pussies now or what?!

This Guy is Good

Do you read "Stranded On Blue Islands"? If not you should. Here Dirty Harry posts something I wish I had written, "You Might Be A Liberal If..."

Being socially more Libertarian than DH, I do not get as wrapped around the axle about some things as he does, such as abortion. But the comparisons are accurate and terrific.

So much for free speech at the University of Oregon. Since when did political speech lose it's protection?  When it supports our troops is when. Something to Think About

Charles Krauthammer offers some provocative thoughts on the challenges waiting for the United States after the War on Terror ebbs. Specifically, the forming of an anti-American coalition of Russia and China. This falls in line with some of the thinking I have heard from family members in the military who have recently served in the Pentagon. I am sure the French would love to get in on this but they are simply too weak to offer much to the other two partners.

The Second Term Begins; And How Sweet it is!

Despite the doom and gloom of the Mainstream Media's coverage, see here,  President George W. Bush was sworn in today for his second term in office. Thank goodness. The bad guys in Iraq and around the world better keep looking over their shoulders 'cause we are still on your ass.
