Fox News is reporting that a series of blasts have taken place at a resort in Egypt. There are "dozens" of casualties. Apparently, the majority of visitors are European and Israeli. Of course, plenty of Egyptians are among the casualties as well. A great many of the appeaser class will repeat the canard that this is about Iraq. But what does a resort in Egypt have to do with the War in Iraq? It is obvious why the terrorists would attack the Israeli's; they hate Jews. But a good many Europeans are quite sympathetic to the cause of the
terrorists due to their opposition to the War in Iraq and to a lesser degree, Afghanistan. Killing them makes little sense as they did not support the Iraq War. Is it possible that this is about a hell of a lot more than Iraq? I'm asking you lefty!
And why Egypt? Well, the Egyptian government has sent diplomatic representatives to Iraq. One of them was executed. Now this attack. Clearly Al Qaeda and friends want to send a message to the Muslim nations that recognizing the elected government in Iraq will add them to the ever-expanding target list. But they did not support the War in Iraq. Do our "friends" on the left suggest that other nation's ignore a duly elected government because they do not like the process that brought it about. Do they agree with the terrorists that any nation that recognizes the Iraqi government warrants a death sentence for it's people.
This unfortunate event could also be a key moment. At some point, people around the world are going to wake up and realize that what the terrorists are selling is not something they want to buy into: an ultra repressive Worldwide Islamic Republic. This attack, which killed plenty of innocent Egyptians, combined with the targeting of diplomats in Iraq, just may start that process in motion, in Egypt anyway. One can only hope. If the rest of the world wakes up to the realities of the GWOT, we will be that much closer to winning. This attack may be a turning point in the understanding many Europeans and Middle Easterner's that this is a WAR and they need to take sides because their is no neutrality when dealing with fanatics.
Update: The death toll is up to 88. An Al-Qaeda related group is claiming responsibility. The full story is here. Can someone refresh my memory, what does Egypt have to do with Iraq?
