I Love This Country!

Have I told you, my readers, how much I love it here in the good old USA? It is fantastic to live here and all of those that think otherwise need to get a clue. Example, I am traveling on business and decided to spend an extra day in Arizona. I left for this trip with a $20 in my pocket along with a credit card. That is all I needed. I traveled from Phoenix to Flagstaff and Sedona and had no problems using my card in even the smallest little town. My $20 was more than enough cash. I had wireless internet access at every point in my journey. My Blackberry worked everywhere I tried to make a call. And I did not have to worry about forgeting anything because I could always stop at a Wal-Mary or Target to pick up whatever I needed. Or to pick up a cheap throw-away camera.

And the sites? Wow! In the 200 miles between Phoenix and Flag the geography and geology changed dramatically. Even in the short 30 miles from Sedona to Flag, it was like going tl two different parts of the country. Awesome! I love it heredo yourself a favor and get out and see this great land. You will not regret it!

More From Canada

Just a quick note before I get on my plane. One day here watching the news was all it took to understand why people have such anti-American feelings. The CBC is an affiliate of Al Jazeera as far as I can tell.

The media here is bending over backwards to paint the thwarted terrorists of victims, taking their claims of being tortured at face value. And they are acting like the wounding of two Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan is D-Day revisited. While I hope only the best for the soldiers involved, perspective is missing here by the media. No wonder the Taliban and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan thought that if they hit the Canadians hard, they would fold; their media makes the case that they should. Frankly the media makes the Canadian people look weak and perfectly capable of pulling a Spain and bolting from Afghanistan. Good thing they, at least most of them, are made of sterner stuff.

'Canes Blogging

The Opinionator is in Toronto at Pearson International Airport, taking a break from his whirlwind business trip to do a little 'Canes blogging. Our flight back to RDU has several people wearing their 'Canes colors here in enemy territory. While the Stanley Cup may be but a blip in your neck of the woods, here it is life or death and we are only in Toronto. They must be on suicide watch in Edmonton. Me, I am loving watching the angst among the sports talking heads here north of the border.

Props to my fellow 'Canes fans for having the chutzpah to wear your colors here and endure the snide comments and dirty looks from Canada's hockey fans! GO 'CANES!

Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead

The Opinionator is traveling on business but wanted to drop a quick post rejoicing in the fact that the evil witch Zarqawi is now worm food. In the short term things will likely heat up. Long term, this may well signal the acceleration of the ongoing decline and demise of Al-Qaeda in Iraq. Congratulations to our troops and the Iraqi's.

Aussie Slap-down!

Michelle Malkin presents a montage of manufactured news at her site Hot Air, including the recent slap-down of Australian morning host Jessica Rowe by BG Michael Slater of the Australian army. Guess some down under are stuck on stupid as well. I had read about it but the impact is much greater when you watch the video so be sure to stop by her place and view it.

Go 'Canes!

The Raleigh area is abuzz with excitement as the Carolina Hurricanes are in the Stanley Cup Finals. The 'Canes mounted a furious comeback in the decisive Game 7 against the Buffalo Sabres and now face Edmonton for The Cup. Let's hear it for the hometown boys!
