Captain Ed points us to the only honest democrat we have seen in quite a while. Go to his site, read the quote and remember it in 2008 when you consider sitting out the election because the Republican running is not the elusive "perfect" candidate.

Between selling out our troops, embracing our enemies and confiscating more of our money the "Tax and Surrender" Democrats are earning the moniker daily.

Soldier's Angels (And Soldiers) Need Your Help

Major Chuck Z. at TC Override has a post that details a need for athletic footwear for the troops at Landstuhl Army Medical Center. Soldier's Angels in Germany is riding point on this effort. Word is that you can pick up a pair of shoes relatively cheaply at Land's End and they have waived shipping in many cases when you mention where they are going. It is only a few bucks and will help someone that is protecting us all. Mrs. Opinionator picked up a pair of shoes and a package of socks today and I am mailing tomorrow. Don't forget socks! Captain Ed Hits The Nail Squarely On The Head

With that the good Captain has neatly summed up the democrat position on the War in Iraq. No discussion of victory. Paraphrasing Ted Koppel, a weak Iraqi government is the one that needs our troops, not a strong one and therefore the democrat's have their resolutions exactly backwards. The Captain Has This One Right; Ann Coulter Is Out Of Line

Via Captain Ed, we learn that Ann Coulter essentially called John Edwards a "faggot". While I share many North Carolina resident's disdain for Edwards, this is stupid and inappropriate. She needs to apologize.

Several points the good Captain makes that I agree with:

   
• That this type of thing is no better than the things Edwards' former blogger's post.
   
• Yes, it was used in several songs and movies from the early '80's. He explains that in "Money For Nothing" the word faggot is used but it is more of a reflection on the user rather than the target. Absolutely correct.

Someone should take the lovely Ann aside and let her know that while we love her glibness, she should understand that this type of thing only hurts conservatives and Republicans and perhaps she should reel that type of nonsense in. And apologize.
