With this acquisition, the Indians have once again bettered their former colonial masters. What's next, British Airways and Rolls Royce? The Crown Jewels?

The SR-71 By Someone That Flew It

Instapundit links to a posting  at Maggie's Farm by retired Air Force Major Brian Shul, a former SR-71 driver. He has some great tales of his time in the Blackbird. There is no way to do this justice so go read it for yourself. Wow!

But They Support The Troops...

A small explosion has occurred at a military recruiting station in Times Square in New York City. The irony of this happening in NYC, scene of the 9/11 terrorist attacks is especially disturbing. Who do these fools think are protecting NYC from Al Qaeda?

It has been pointed out in many places, including here, that as the anti-war movement has been frustrated in their attempts to urge our withdrawal and surrender in Iraq, they have turned on the troops themselves as a target for their frustration as in Berkeley. In my mind, this makes the perpetrators no better than an Al Qaeda member in Iraq attacking an installation. Treat them the same.

The Media Vs. Hillary Clinton

I am no fan of Hillary Clinton, having had to live with her as the First Lady of Arkansas as well as the US. However, I almost feel sorry for her. It took an SNL skit to get the media to do thier jobs and they are still soft-balling on the Rezko scandal which may have a tie to Obama. If it were Hillary or especially John McCain, the coverage would be wall to wall.

Another thing I have noticed is that everyone seems to look for the worst possible photograph of her to use for their stories, blog postings and news reports. She really is getting hammered in a way a man would not. As her campaign is finding out, there is such a thing as media bias.

Supporting Israel

It is no secret that The Opinionator and this blog supports Israel. As we sit here, Israel is conducting operations in Gaza to put an end to the constant rocket attacks against her southern cities. As is typically the case, the media, led by the BBC, blame Israel for defending herself. Allison Kaplan Sommer at an unsealed room says all of this much better than I. Be sure to go and read the whole thing.

Best Western Lake Buena Vista: Don't Stay There!

This past week I attended the HIMSS show in Orlando. I stayed at the Best Western Lake Buena Vista, an Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. The front desk was only partially staffed so check in and out was excruciatingly slow. Service was indifferent at best. The hallways smelled. Once in the room it was clear from the wear and tear that this was a busy hotel: grubby tile, worn linens and bedding. At least one member of our group reported bedbug bites.

It is your money, and certainly it cost less than a Disney property. However, I won't be staying there again.
