In the essay linked below, Patrick Buchanan asserts that it was the fault of Poland that they were invaded by Germany in 1939. His premise is that Hitler tried to negotiate with Poland over possession of Danzig. Buchanan clearly thinks Poland should have given it to Germany. Easy for him to say. He thinks we should be negotiating with Hamas, Hezbollah and our friends in Syria and Tehran.
If Mr. Buchanan believes that merely giving up Danzig would have satisfied Hitler then he is a fool. No amount of appeasement had satisfied Hitler to that point. If not Poland, then it would have been something else. Additionally, what kind of negotiation is it if Hitler's position is "give us Danzig or will we invade"?
And if Buchanan thinks that talking to Hamas and company would make them happy, he is an even bigger fool. Only the destruction of Israel and a worldwide Caliphate will make them happy. To those agreeing with Buchanan's position in the comments, what exactly do you recommend we give up to Hamas, Hezbollah, etc? Given Buchanan's reputation for anti-Semitism, I am betting what he really means is sell out Israel. And from the comments I have read at the post, more than a few lefties and isolationists would gladly do so because they really think Islamic fascism can be appeased by giving up Israel. Fools the lot of them.
