Media Bias For Obama

This post at Instapundit tells you everything you need to know about media bias for Senator Obama in this campaign. Hillary Clinton faced it and John McCain and Sarah Palin are now faltering under the brunt of the media onslaught. Be sure to go and read it all. Here is a snippet,

Paul Newman, R.I.P.

Paul Newman passed away today at 83. A good man who entertained millions, was friends with many and helped thousands, Newman will be missed. More on Newman here.

No Wonder The McCain Campaign Hates The New York Times

My local paper, The News & Observer in Raleigh, used this story by Michael Cooper and Elisabeth Bumiller of the The New York Times to describe the debate. From that story comes this line(Emphasis added):

McCain said "incredibly" that Obama had not gone to Iraq for 900 days and asked for a meeting with Gen. David H. Petraeus and added, with more than a whiff of condescension, that "Senator Obama doesn't understand the difference between a tactic and a strategy."

Note, this is a news story. It is not labeled analysis or commentary. Is it any wonder that the McCain campaign has been forceful in their condemnation of the NYT's campaign coverage? If this type of story was only in that paper it would be no problem. However, smaller papers like the N&O gives them the ability to influence voters all over the country with biased stories like this one.

The "We Had A Deal Before McCain Showed Up" Lie

There has been a lot of accusations by democrats that there was a deal agreed to on the bailout that was scuttled by John McCain's arrival in DC. However, Senator Richard Shelby said on Fox News that there was NO DEAL that included the support of House Republicans and the roughly two dozen GOP Senators that he speaks for, before McCain arrived. That is a fiction. The campaigns include three sitting US Senators and I would expect all of them to be participating in a crisis situation which may cost nearly a trillion dollars. That is their job. Reid and Paulson both asked McCain to assist. Note, no one asked Obama but McCain. Tells you how influential he is, eh?

Candidly, Pelosi definitely has the votes to pass this now. Reid likely does as well. And the President would sign it. Why not do it? Fear? Election jitters? . What is holding them back? McCain has ruined nothing. Rather, he is attempting to bring House Republicans on board so it is a bipartisan deal which helps democrats and, dare we say it, the country.

Note, it does leave out the cowardly Republicans that did not back the President in 2003 and McCain in 2005 when they proposed reforming Fannie and Freddie. Also, they had the congressional majority in 1995 and should never have let the CRA adjustment pass. But, everything in here is factual.

Senator Obama Is Not A Player In Washington

When the Treasury bailout was in danger of falling apart, Treasury Secretary Paulson and Senator Reid called on Senator McCain to get to Washington immediately to help get a deal negotiated. There was no need for Senator Obama to do the same. What does that tell you about their relative position in Washington? What does it say regarding Obama's claim that he can work across the aisle to get things done? You do the math.

Wal-Mart Sucks

Tonight I visited the new Wal-Mart in Holly Springs, NC about 11 miles from my house. It is one of the new upscale looking Wal-Marts. And indeed it looks better than most that I have been in. However the service is pathetic. For the second trip in a row, it took much longer to check out than it took me to shop.

This store has 27 check out lines. Five were open and two of those were Express lines. Sure, it was Sunday night but I had a similar experience on a Friday afternoon. It pains me, someone who grew up on Wal-Mart in Arkansas, to say that Wal-Mart sucks. I prefer Target and am willing to pay more to shop at their stores. Sam Walton would rise from his grave and kick someone's backside if he knew this was happening to his beloved stores!

Obama's North Carolina Strategy

Barack Obama was scheduled to appear in Charlotte, NC today. He and his wife have visited the city several times recently. It appears that his strategy is to get out the urban vote in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg County area. He is not bothering to come up to the Triangle. Not that he needs to as he has Chapel Hill and Durham home of UNC and Duke respectively, locked up. He has also visited the Triad but Charlotte seems to be his area of focus.

Clearly he thinks that the key to winning NC is to get black and urban democrat voters in Charlotte to the polls.  We will see if that strategy works  on November 4th.
